The Tougher Than Dirt Tour kicked off on Tuesday at the McLean County Speedway and it has been a whirlwind of action packed racing ever since. Strong fields of cars in both the IMCA Hobby Stock and IMCA Sport Mod divisions have lead to some intense battles that has led to some tight point battles.
The IMCA Hobby Stocks have been action packed so far with some extremely gritty racing but it has been "Mr. Excitement" Brandon Bombardo who finds himself in the lead of the points at the halfway point. With a win and two second place finishes Mr. Excitement has found his rhythm and has strung together some excellent runs which he will need to continue if he wants to stay on top. He is being hounded by Kyler Satran and Conor Hansen who have also strung together a string of great finishes. The remaining races take the drivers across the border to the Estevan Motor Speedway where Hansen could use his familiarity of his home track that could lead him to the points lead. Whereas, Satran must be thrilled to have Nodak Speedway hosting the championship night where he could vault himself to the lead there. However, Thunder Mountain could be a real deciding point as it favors none of the three. Bombardo, will have to stay focus and keep on it if he wants to prevail.

The IMCA Sport Mods have had strong fields of cars with the highest (31) coming at the Williston Basin Speedway. At the halfway point Darrin Medler has the slimmest of leads over a very fierce and talented group of drivers. After a persevered effort at McLean County, Medler has strung together back to back wins to catapult himself to the points lead over Medicine Lake's Tate Johnson. However, Medler has strong opposition from Gabriel Deschamp who must be eyeing Saturday's race at his home track of Thunder Mountain in Bottineau. After a DNF at McLean County Kelly Henderson has put together back to back second place finishes and has positioned himself in a place where he could sneak his way to the front if chaos ensues for the point leaders. Other drivers who have put together strong finishes and consistent results are Darren Schatz, Justin Fichter, and Robby Rosselli. These drivers find themselves in the same situation as Henderson and are just waiting for the opportunity to pounce on their competition if they slip up.
The Tougher Than Dirt Tour continues on tonight at Estevan Motor Speedway and heads over to the Thunder Mountain Speedway before wrapping up at Nodak Speedway. Fans certainly should take the opportunity to make it out to one of these races as the action has been awesome. Each race there is a frantic pace as the drivers are clawing for every inch on the track and it keeps the fans on the edge of their seats. You certainly don't want to miss out on any of the action that the Tougher Than Dirt Tour is presenting.
