2024 Season Heading Towards the Green Flag

Another highly anticipated race season is quickly arriving as the car shows are now completed, wraps are being cautiously (or in some cases hastily) applied to fresh tin, and track crews have begun track prep and are getting the tow trucks ready for the year. Yes, things are rapidly ramping up as the new season barrels towards us and with a new season means handful of intriguing storylines for fans, drivers, and pit crews to look forward to.

Let's start out East as the Sheyenne Speedway has a new promoter this year. After years of excellent work and a ton of dedication Benji Froemke has handed the keys to the track off to Jake Bitker the promoter of the Norman County Raceway and the Red River Valley Speedway. This change of leadership allows the IMCA drivers an extra opportunity to race and will see some of the Wissota racing opportunities vanish a bit. However, one can only imagine that this change will hopefully the IMCA region after the loss of IMCA sanctioning at Princeton. For what it's worth Benji and his crew deserve a tip of the hat as they revitalized the track and certainly saved it from being forced to close the doors.

Both River Cities and Red River look to have another solid year of races set for their respective schedules. The IMCA Racesaver 305 sprints continue to grow and have a series for their drivers to follow this year along with their normal schedule at Red River. The growth of the 305 sprints is something that needs to be watched as it could quickly become the feeder division for the 410 sprints or even overtake the 410 sprints in popularity. Looking at driver changes there are some notable changes being made this year as well. Kollin Hibdon steps into a late model this year and is planning to chase the big money modified shows. Wissota Street Stock stand out Todd Carter looks to be making the transition to an IMCA Stock Car. Meanwhile the Seckerson crew will be testing the waters in IMCA Modifieds this season. Amongst many other change ups for each class, the East side of the State has a lot of exciting changes happening that should keep the fans and drivers excited this season.
